Breast Lift Techniques Used at Our Charlotte Plastic Surgery Practice

Whether we like it or not time passes, and as it does our bodies change. Our skin begins to lose its natural elasticity. As a result, we start to experience sagging skin on various areas of our body, from our faces and necks to our breasts, abdomen and buttocks. This sagging, clinically known as ptosis, can be particularly frustrating for women when it affects the appearance of their breasts. Fortunately, Dr. Erik J. Miles offers a solution to breast ptosis in the form of breast lift surgery at his Charlotte plastic and reconstructive surgery practice.

breastBreast lift helps women to counteract some of the effects that the natural aging process, gravity, pregnancy, nursing, fluctuations in weight, and other factors can have on their breasts over time. As with other plastic surgery procedures available at North Charlotte Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, breast lift can be customized to the unique needs and goals of each individual patient, which helps to ensure that she will be pleased with the results. Dr. Miles is highly trained and has mastered the most advanced and effective techniques used to perform breast lift surgery.

If you are experiencing sagging of the breasts and would like to explore your breast lift options, we invite you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Erik J. Miles at North Charlotte Plastic & Reconstruction Surgery today at 704-896-5556.

Top Four Modern Breast Lift Techniques

There are four breast techniques that plastic surgeons most often use to perform breast lift. If it is determined that you are a good candidate for breast lift surgery, Dr. Miles will explain the benefits and risks associated with each technique and advise you as to which technique he feels would offer you the best result and achieve the look you desire.

Breast lift surgery can also be combined with breast augmentation at our Charlotte plastic surgery practice for women who want to rejuvenate and enhance their breasts. The following techniques are used to perform breast lift surgery on its own.

The Anchor Breast Lift Technique

Of all breast lift techniques, this is the most common, and it remains the preferred method for patients who require significant lifting. The technique takes its name from the pattern made by the incisions, which resembles an anchor. Dr. Miles first creates an incision along the border of the areola, followed by a vertical incision that extends in a line from the bottom of the areola to the breast fold where the bottom of the breast meets the chest skin. He then makes a third incision along the lower breast fold.

The Lollipop Breast Lift Technique

The lollipop breast lift technique is similar to the anchor technique with the exception that it does not require a third incision along the breast fold. This technique is used for patients who require a moderate lift.

The Peri-Areolar Breast Lift Technique

For women with mild to moderate sagging, the minimally invasive peri-areolar technique may be optimal. This technique requires only a single incision, around the border of the areola. This technique is also commonly referred to as the “purse-string” technique.

The Crescent Technique

This is the least invasive of all breast lift techniques, as it involves only an incision along the upper edge of the areola. However, it is reserved for cases of exceptionally mild breast ptosis.
