Eyelid Surgery Charlotte
Eyelid surgery, also known as a blepharoplasty, improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.
Upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can correct puffy and drooping upper eyelids, which results in a more youthful and refreshed appearance. This procedure is designed to treat loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision. It also addresses excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids. During upper eyelid surgery, fat, along with excess skin and muscle are removed from the upper eyelids to achieve an enhanced appearance. This can be performed alone, or it can be performed in conjunction with a brow lift. Both procedures will result in a more natural, younger and more rested looking appearance.
Lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) corrects puffiness an excess skin and fine wrinkles in the lower eyelids. This procedure, much like upper eyelid surgery, involves the removal of fat, along with excess skin and muscle from the lower eyelids. For patients who only need to have pockets of fat removed from their lower eyelid to reduce puffiness, transconjunctival blepharoplasty is a good option. This is where an incision is made inside the lower eyelid and leaves no visible scar.
These procedures can usually be performed under local anesthesia with light sedation in the office-based setting. Patients typically resume their normal activities after approximately one week, however mild swelling and bruising can persist for slightly longer. Dr. Miles will review these procedures in great detail during your consultation.
